Lord of the Flies: A story on survival

Lord of the FDSC06305lies by William Golding first published in 1954 is the survival story of a group of boys stranded on an uninhabited desert island after a plane crash. The harsh island environment and the absence of restrains turns the childish dreams of the boys into something more primitive and their behaviour takes on a savage turn. Its central theme is the conflicting human impulses towards civilization (living by rules and laws) and the desire to gain power and succumb to your most basic instincts.
