‘Insurgent’ by Veronica Roth

Insurgent, the second book of the Divergent series by Veronica Roth is set in the relative future. It follows book 1, Divergent, and follows book 3, Allegiant.

In the last book, the whole of the Dauntless faction is controlled by mind control drugs on Beatrice Prior’s initiation day. Except of course, for Tris herself, who was immune due to being a Divergent. The faction is made to kill all of the Abnegation faction. In this book, civil war threatens the city as the conflict between Erudite-Dauntless combo and the rest of the Dauntless and the factionless grows. Tris and her group seek refuge in the Amity sector. It finally happens that Tris turns herself herself to run experiments on to prevent further bloodshed.

This book, while better than the movie, was just not that good. Neither original nor realistic. My favourite character was Tobias “Four” Eaton. He was brave.

I would recommend this book to all my friends and fellow FAB challengers.

I would rate this book 4 out of 10.
